Preserving Recipes as A Family Legacy
The Heirloom Recipe Documentation Project was created to organise, document, standardise, and preserve the traditional recipes of a family matriarch. These were not just recipes, but memories, methods, flavours, and family traditions passed through years of everyday cooking.
Studio Mindful approached the project as a documentation and archive design exercise. The objective was to convert a rich personal food legacy into an international-standard recipe book that could be kept, used, gifted, and passed on for generations.
Titled Homemade Happiness, the book was designed to feel rooted, warm, and personal. While the recipes were documented in standardised formats, the visual language deliberately moved away from the overly styled look of commercial recipe books. The photography, styling, and design were created to retain the homely character of the food and honour the emotional value behind each recipe.
What We Delivered
We managed the project from documentation to final book design, ensuring that the recipes were not only preserved accurately but also presented with warmth, clarity, and cultural sensitivity.
